Stairway to Heaven (Chan Style)

So last night... at midnight, Guitar Hero came out... and of course, William had to be there standing in line ~ which means, we got one! Guitar Hero is the latest Wii game created especially for wannabe rock stars and/or air guitar extremists. It's actually pretty fun. As you can see from above, William rocks.

The concept is very simple - but scoring high is more difficult than it looks. It's a challenge to keep the rhythm without losing score. I have a feeling that the next version will give points for keeping the correct head banging rhythm.

With all of these incredible games coming out... it's making me wonder how much smarter the next generation is going to be - than us! These Wii games have some interesting potential to develop motor/music/athletic skills. But for us, it's better for achieving our alter egos. Right now, as I type, William is jamming and screaming to The Ramone's, "I wanna rock n' roll all night (and party every day)". At least it's moving away from the Guns and Roses songs. He usually beats me at the video games, but I'm tempted to work a bit harder with this one... competition is coming.

I can't believe I missed the opportunity to capture the blogging moment for our debut of the DDR extravaganza... a few months ago (Dance, Dance, Revolution!) I'm bummed I missed getting photographs of the dancing skills.... maybe next time...

We have many reasons to be thankful

Louis Armstrong sings it. God gives it. We'll take it!

I see trees of green........ red roses too
I see em bloom..... for me and for you
And I think to myself.... what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue..... clouds of white
Bright blessed days....dark sacred nights
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.

The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky
Are also on the faces.....of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands.....sayin'.. how do you do
They're really sayin'......i love you.

I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow
They'll learn much more.....than Ill never know
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world

Maker Faire

We enjoyed the Maker Faire today! It's basically a "fair" of all sorts of creative inventions and art - that people have imagined and built on their own. It's quite an experience to witness all of the unique things at this fair... and all of the unique people :) It's put on by Make magazine. Check it out here. It gives you some great ideas, inspiration & instruction on how to make all sorts of crazy things... all by yourself.

Here's William with one of the many robots... This was a "robo cop" model... that just might come to your neighborhood soon... and replace your friendly policeman. This one isn't so merciful... he basically gives you 20 seconds to "comply" and if you don't... it sounds like he'll blast you away! He claims to reduce the crime rates everywhere.

For the Battlestar Galactica fans... Happy Halloween! Here's a cylon version of the ultimate pumpkin... your doorstep could be the envy of the neighborhood.

If you ever wanted to know what to do with all your junk mail... check out this artist who creates art with all of her junk mail.

And of course they had an "art car" section. Here's William in front of the camera van.

And our favorite part of the fair...was the bike rodeo.... I've never seen so many happy smiles on the faces of adults... it was like a gigantic playground. And we definitely joined in....

The shot below would have been better if we could have captured the moments when I was riding on the front panel.... and William continued to tip me over....

Here's a bicycle merry-go-round. No electricity or fuel needed - just human pedaling power!
And many more carnival rides... all powered through pedals....
So as a result, the Chans are now lifetime advocates of the Cycle Circus. We're just hoping the upcoming presidential issues would veer off of the serious topics for a bit - to include converting electricity/fuel powered American fairs into pedal powered circuses. The world could become a better place. (no, we have not turned into liberals... but we do enjoy a good bike ride :)

Boycott Music Television

We really can't stand Music Television today - all forms. We miss the good ol' days when MTV actually played videos. So, out of a desperate attempt to keep good music in our life, the Chan Clan Blog is officially announcing their new music section. Stay tuned for our favorite videos. And send us yours.

To start it off, Regina Spektor's latest vid - and only 4 hours old:

and we have to include this one... even though you've most likely already seen this. We can't tire of it...

This one is a bit old, but it's fun. Has anyone else tried this at the gym?
