We had a friend reunion in Galveston last weekend - some friends we hadn't seen since our wedding! Galveston is a beach town near Houston, TX. We stayed in a little beachfront house with a great view of the ocean. We were concerned for a bit because of the hurricane that we seemed to be "driving towards"... but it ended up as lovely weather with a little overcast, which seemed perfect for August in Texas. I stole all of these shots from my extremely talented photographer friend, Deji's flickr account.... isn't he good? Click the image for a close-up view.
Hit the back button (the < arrow on your top toolbar) to come back to the blog.

Between all of us, we must have had about 5 kites up in the air at once. William takes kite flying very seriously so we were pretty focused on keeping the colorful plastic sheet up in the air ... all for under $1.99.

William also takes burgers very seriously, so he brought ginormous meat patties and grilled them to perfection for everyone. I think it was the biggest hamburger I have ever bitten into during my life as a carnivore.

And here we are! minus Deji... and Erica.

And here's some more incredible shots by Deji. He's so good at making seaweed look beautiful.

New House

Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.
Psalm 127:1

We bought a new home! Not exactly new... it's almost 70 yrs old, actually. But new to us. Built in '39 right at the cusp of WWII. It's in a quaint little neighborhood. We like the old time sidewalks and gigantic trees - but most of all, the central location. But we won't move into it for at least a year . . . and we (or others, I should say) will be renovating it. It needs quite a bit of TLC. All handymen and carpenters, please apply. . .

and if you are searching for a place in Austin, these guys are the best. A very unique realtor experience... they are truly one of a kind.

Here's a couple shots of our "old school" home :) Maybe we'll put the renovation photos on our blog next year to witness the transformation....
